The Search Continues
As I stated in the title, "the search continues." I started my search in the local newspaper; however, after rethinking the exercise I expanded my search area.
Here are the articles and opportunities that I found during my search.
REGULATORY TRENDS
1. Digital License Plates
a. I found an article on the "Verge" that discusses recent legislation changes that allow the testing of a digital license plate in California. Here is a link.
b. The article mentions that the plates are only being tested in California, but recent legislation has also been approved for their use in Florida and select other states. I believe there may be an opportunity based on the fact that there are few if any current manufacturers.
c. The prototypical customer for this product would be someone who is a trendsetter and likes to invest in a new product right as it hits the shelf.
d. The opportunity will be difficult to exploit due to the fact a needing large capital in order to secure the materials personnel to assemble the license plates.
2. Amazon to Block Australians
a. The article, which I found on "Verge" talks about recent legislation that was enacted in Australia to add a surcharge tax of 10% to online retailers outside of Australia.
b. I believe there to be an opportunity to create a website that spoofs your IP say from another neighboring country to circumvent the tax.
c. The customer would be anyone from Australia that wants to purchase from the US Amazon site.
d. I am sure that the technology already exists in order to create the site. Which the site could be paid for by advertising space. However, I know that my ethics would not allow me to become the proprietor.

3. Fewer Home Sales
a. I read an article from the Tampa Bay Times that discussed the downward trend of home sales in relation to month over month.
b. According to the article, the author mentions that fewer homes sold last month, but the slower sales has also driven up the median purchase price. I believe that an opportunity definitely exists for the creation of new housing developments.
c. The customer would be anyone that is searching for a home in the Tampa Bay area.
d. The opportunity will be difficult to exploit taking into consideration the amount of capital and red tape needed to purchase and start a housing development.
4. Can We Retire?
a. Recently I have read numerous articles in my various news feeds that relate to the dismal situation of Americans as a whole saving for retirement.
b. My opinion is that an opportunity exists to provide a niche in the financial advisement market to help individuals plan for their future and their here and now.
c. The potential customer would be anyone that wants some oversight on their financial situation.
d. The opportunity would not have any large barriers to entrance. Therefore, start up would be relatively simple.
Why Did You See an Opportunity?
1. For this particular opportunity I noticed a relatively new market that has been reached. With the new regulation that allows the use of the digital license plate, there are very few manufacturers. According to the article there is only one manufacture as of present. We live in a society of having the latest and greatest and I believe there is untapped potential to sell these plates for a substantial markup.
2. The creation of new legislation has led to a possible opportunity for web developers to write a program to circumvent the location requirement. Which in turn would allow users to purchase at a discount without paying the tax. My supposition this would be viable is the mere fact that most people like to pay less not more.
3. The current housing market trend is definitely a buyers market. I have seen personally the struggle that people are having with finding a home in their budget. Most houses in my neighborhood, which is reasonable in size and price, sell for more than the asking price usually in a few hours. Therefore, we definitely have a market for the creation of new homes. However, the market should allow for the creation of median income residences at a greater rate than higher income.
4. The recent economic trend of can we retire or should we retire is something that I watch very carefully. I have countless friends and family that have not taken adequate steps to plan for their retirement. Everyone can use a second opinion for most decisions that we make in life. Planning for our future should be something that we don't take for granted.

Digital license plates wow, there goes looking over my shoulder when driving with expired plates. Considering this is still a fairly new innovation, I can see this as a highly profitable opportunity to exploit. I do agree that assembling the pieces would require a lot of capital and there is also the question of cyber security and privacy as the article mentions.
